How many of you are tired of being inundated with sugar at every turn of the holiday season? With the holidays fast-approaching, I thought I'd share a sugar-free way to make cider. I created this recipe because I'm a grazer and having this to sip on keeps me away from the snack table and my sweet tooth satisfied! For those of you with kids, this is also a great treat for them and helps you avoid the much-dreaded sugar rush! And say goodbye to those cheap cinnamon-scented candles. With this brewing, your house will smell ah-mazing!

In a covered pot on the stove top, combine:

  • 2 Quarts (64 oz) of all-natural apple juice (make sure to check the label for NO sugar and NO refined sweeteners added!)
  • 4 thick, round orange slices (with peel still on)
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 1 tbs. whole cloves

Heat mixture until piping hot, then turn the heat low to maintain for drinking.

If you want to make this in a slow cooker like I do, heat the crock up to high for 1 hour, then turn the heat low to maintain temperature for drinking.

I don't know about you, but when I'm not cranky or lethargic from sugar overload, I feel more present, both physically and emotionally, when I'm spending time with the special people in my life. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do! Cheers!
